Visions Not Yet Fulfilled

Chapter 12

Terrorist Attack on a Public School

Several years after my father passed away, I had an experience that began as a vivid dream. As the dream progressed, it turned into a series of scenes that I classify as a vision.

A few times I have dreamed of Dad, and in those dreams he would say something important or give me a warning. I want to make something clear: if you dream of a loved one who has passed away and you communicate in the dream, that is not “talking to the dead,” as some allege. It is not some form of attempted communication with the departed. I consider it the same type of vision that Christ experienced when Moses and Elijah appeared to Him on the Mount of Transfiguration (Matt. 17:1-9). Moses had been dead and buried 1,500 year earlier, and Elijah had been taken alive into heaven. Both men spoke to Christ, telling Him about His future death in Jerusalem. Christ called this encounter a vision. Many people reading this have dreamed of being with a loved one who has passed away, which is not uncommon.

In the first phase of this dream, I entered a room that reminded me of a public school classroom. There were no students in the room or in the hallways. Dad was sitting in a chair, dressed in his traditional dark suit. His countenance appeared troubled. It reminded me of the serious look he would have after experiencing a troubling dream. I asked him what was wrong.

He said to me, “They have attacked a public school full of children in the town!” Dad then described to me the location of the school where the attack had occurred (which I will not name). A group of terrorists organized a plan to attack the facility during school hours. They had slain or wounded hundreds of children in this one location. It was being called the worst attack since 9-11. For wisdom’s sake, there are parts of this I will not tell.

In the vision, because of this attack, Lee University in Cleveland had sent their students back home for fear of being the next target. I spoke to two male college students who chose to remain in town to assist in counseling youth who were traumatized by the attack.
